Recently, Realme 8 Pro made its way to Philippines and received a good feedback. Realme 8 Pro Price in Philippines is between PHP 25,000 and 35,000. Let's check it out why you should buy it, or not.

Sufficient Fast Chip (SD 720G)

108MP Cam and 960fps Slow-mo

High Endurance Battery

Fast Recharge (50W)

Cons

Plastic Build

No Glass (No IP rating)

Only 60Hz Refresh Rate

No stereo speakers

No 5G

Design

Having an appealing design, Realme 8 Pro looks decent, thanks to rectangular-shaped camera setup. There is a flat display with a cornered punch hole. Unfortunately, there is no Gorilla Glass for protection. An In-display Fingerprint let it unlock faster. Shifting to the bottom you find a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB Type C (enabling reverse power syncing to charge other handsets).

You may feel a mid-range phone like Realme 8 Pro aggressive with a Plastic body, rather than Metal. No IP rating means you are betting your precious smartphone while going through splashes. Realme 8 Pro is a light-weight mobile, having 176 grams weight.

Display

Thanks to Realme 8 Pro for providing the user with a Super AMOLED display. Enjoy better screening and read, watch or play on a 6.4-inch display. Unfortunately, you are getting standard 60Hz refresh rate, not exceptional 120Hz. It is having a 20 by 9 aspects ratio, and enabling Always-on screen. Contrast is okay. Typically, it offers 430 nits brightness, but for peak performance it goes up to 1000 nits brightness.

Software

Android 11, skinned with Realme UI 2.0, offers advanced features i.e. schedule dark theme, better navigation, dynamic media controls, built-in screen recorder, greater control over conversation, notification history (recalling cleared notifications), and temporary permission for apps for a better privacy.

Optics

A 108MP sensor holds the main camera job. It has an f/1.9 aperture, which works pretty cool in light cases, but when the light falls short or the scene gets dark, don't expect overwhelming results. Autofocus is just like other mid-rangers. Something attractive is 4k video recording along with Electronic Image Stabilization support. Super Slow-mo is available for HD videos, capable of rendering up to 960 frames per second.

Three further lenses are accompanying Realme 8 Pro as follows, an 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor. The ultrawide let you add more side-views in photographs and offer a 119-degree field of view. The rest two sensors help you caught more details and better close-ups.

The front camera is 16MP, clicking Full HD footage, but the bit rate is low while the file size is large.

Chipset

Achieving 327,458 AnTuTu scores, Realme 8 Pro executes the program faster, thanks to Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset. Built on 8nm architecture, Realme 8 Pro reduces battery consumption. Either play PUBG, Fortnite, or Call of Duty, Realme 8 Pro won't let you down. Two RAM options are given, 6GB and 8GB. Memory expansion is allowed, as you have no storage option other than 128GB.

The battery life is competitive, 4500mAh power cell, lasting 35 hours of talks, 16 hours of web browsing, and 21 hours of video playback. Realme 8 Pro requires 47 minutes for a full charge (0 to 100%), thanks to 50W Fast Charge.

Verdict

Realme 8 Pro lacks some common features in mid-range smartphones. Take an example of 120Hz display mode, which is available in many other mid rangers available in the market today such as Poco X3. Another example is the absence of Gorilla Glass. If you can come over those drawbacks, Realme 8 Pro is a good deal. Otherwise, you can choose the best alternatives around that price like Reno6 5G and Poco F3 or X3 including their GT versions.
