Oppo is continuously approaching more people by launching more feature-rich and affordable smartphones. The Reno 6 5G is the latest edition to its portfolio. The Reno 6 5G emerges as the recent popular smartphone in Philippines. Oppo Reno 6 5G Price in Philippines is between PHP 20,000 and PHP 25,000. Let's see Reno6 5G is a bang for your buck or not.
Pros
90Hz AMOLED display
Android 11 OS
5G connectivity
High-res Camera (wider f/1.7 aperture)
Massive RAM (8GB/12GB)
65W Fast Charger
Cons
Plastic Body
No OIS or EIS for video rec.
No audio jack
No card slot
Design
It is a mid-range smartphone with a symmetrical design, having a flat AMOLED screen with a tiny punch hole and accompanying a Gorilla Glass 5. Get closer to the Fingerprint Unlock, available under the screen. The UD Fingerprint is easier to reach and operates faster. Weighing in at 182 grams, Reno6 5G encourages one-handed usage. There is a USB Type C letting you sync battery power to other devices. All you would find on the back is a Triple Camera setup, oriented vertically. Color choices are Aurora, Black, Blue, and Purple.
Sorry to say that Reno 6 5G is not getting a Metal body (plastic, despite being a mid-ranger) and no audio jack.
Display
While screening, Oppo Reno6 5G is more than okay with a 90Hz refresh rate (works better for graphical frames). Browsing is even easier, thanks to a 20 by 9 wide-angle display of 6.43 inches. There are low or high brightness levels i.e. 430 nits (typ), 600 nits (HBM), and 750 nits (peak). The maximum brightness stage works well for outdoors and sunlight cases.
Camera
Reno6 5G clicks 4k shots, thanks to the 64MP main camera. You can take enhanced low light photos, as it has a wider f/1.7 aperture. Also, there are AI filters like Bokeh and Beauty mode that made photography fun. Contrast and color saturation define pictures well, but you have to tolerate Full HD's large file size. For ultrawide shots, there is an 8MP lens with a 119-degree field of view. Optical zoom is only 0.5X, but digital zoom is allowed up to 10X. The third lens is a 2MP macro for close-ups, yet not expect extraordinary.
The downside of camera is the lack of Optical/Electrical Image Stabilization support for video recording. Also, Edge Detection is failed in some cases like the contour of ears and hair follicles.
Coming to the selfie side, Reno 6 5G brings a 32MP front-facing camera of f/2.4 aperture. The results are pretty nice. When using AI filters, keep Beauty mode at 40%, otherwise, you would look like a doll or an animated one.
Software
Android 11, wrapped in ColorOS 11.3, offers all modern features i.e. better navigation, dynamic media controls, built-in screen recorder, greater control over the conversation, notification history (recalling cleared notifications), and temporary permission for apps for better privacy. An amazing feature is a Schedule Dark Theme. As the name shows, it lets you choose when your Reno6 5G should adapt to Dark mode.
Chipset
Though not a top-line Snapdragon, Reno6 5G’s Dimensity 900 is offering 5G connectivity and much better performance than the average Qualcomm SoCs. With a 6nm processor, Reno6 5G achieved 476,462 AnTuTu v9 scores. You have two RAM options, 8GB and 12GB. Choose according to your need, either you are a regular gamer, heavy game player, or a multi-tasker.
Two storage options are there, 128GB and 256GB. Unfortunately, you cannot expand the memory via a microSD card, because there is no slot.
A 4300mAh battery endures a full working day on multimedia. Get it lasted for a day on Talk Time, while gaming the handset can't keen on lights the entire day. Connect a 65W Super VOOC 2.0 Charge, and get the Reno 6 5G recharged up to 100% within 40 minutes.
Verdict
Compromising card slot and audio jack bring you Reno6 5G on the table – that is a tough competitor to any other mid-ranger in the Philippines mobile market. The starting 8GB RAM, 64MP Cam, 65W Charge, and AMOLED screen are really nice stuff in this price range. If you have more hunger for performance, switch to Reno6 Pro.
If you are looking for an alternative, Xiaomi Poco F3 GT and OnePlus Nord CE 5G are the best alternatives to Reno 6 5G.
