Euro356The Moto G50 5G is a new entry to Motorola portfolio. The handset claims to be one of the cheapest 5G phones. As we know 5G is exclusive and mobile companies are trying to provide 5G mobiles at a low cost. Putting down prices for 5G smartphones may lead to lack of quality features as compared to 4G counterparts. So, let's see why you should buy Moto G50 or not.
Pros
Good Refresh Rate
Water Repellent Design
Enhanced Low-light Cam
5G Network
Extended Battery Life
Cons
Poor Display Resolution
Aggressive Slow Charging (15W)
Can't transfer data with USB cable
Better Alternatives Available At That Price
Design
Moto G50 does not owe IP rating, but has a water repellent design. A little bulky and weighs in at 206 grams. Plastic is the fabrication material and a front glass. Only one shade, Meteorite Grey and hence no other choice is there.
The Moto G50 5G has a selfie notch on top of the display. The phone also tries to keep the bezels slim. On the back of the phone is a square camera matrix that is home to three sensors and a LED flash. The Motorola logo sits in the middle and is home to the rear fingerprint sensor. On the bottom edge of the device, there's a USB-C port as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired headphones.
Display and OS
The screen has a 20:9 wide aspect ratio, 90Hz max refresh rate, and dynamic colors. It is okay so far. Unfortunately, Moto G50 5G has only HD+ resolution to brighten up 6.5-inch display - only 269 pixels per inch. Such a large screen with this low resolution may frustrate you while watching outdoors.
The Moto G50 5G runs on Android 11, the latest of its species. No skin on top and hence genuine Google interface. Get Schedule Dark Theme, Recalling Notification History, Better Navigation, and More Control like temporary permission for apps.
Optics
The Moto G50 5G has four cameras if you count those on the front and back, which are sufficient numbers for an affordable phone. On the rear of the handset, a 48MP main lens accompanies a 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor. The camera app is packed with lots of features such as best shot, manual mode (for front and back cameras), sample color, live filter, night vision, portrait lighting, and Google Lens integration.
Chipset
Motorola Moto G50 5G picks up MediaTek Dimensity 700, a 5G chip build on 7nm node. The one and only RAM and ROM choice are 4GB and 128GB. The phone has a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion. Battery is of 5000mAh, giving you non-stop talk and play time. The gadget is compatible with 15W Fast Charge and you would suffer very slow charging, consuming over 2 hours.
Verdict
Before doing any conclusion, we ask you to determine the reason first: What kind of cell phone you wish to buy? If you are curious about 5G, then Motorola Moto G50 is the best affordable choice. None of other phone in the market with 5G network is offering those features at this price. But if you are not a 5G consumer, Moto G50 5G is not a competitive device against 4G mobiles. There are better alternatives at that price or even cheaper. For example, Poco X3 Pro is more affordable and offering Snapdragon 860 performance, 120Hz display, more gigs of RAM (6GB), and an even better camera capable of 4k video recording.
Long story short, buying Moto G50 for 5G connectivity is okay. But if 5G is not a problem, go and grab a better alternative for the same or even lower price.
